The Bank Night drawing announces two $225 prizes this week with $450 total prize money. Two winners will be announced Thursday Feb 12 at 8:30 pm in participating businesses and must be present within three minutes to win. Final drawing on March 4 to conclude the promotion.
Funeral services for Leo F. Klemp 63 of Readlyn will be held Thursday at St Matthew s Readlyn with burial in the church cemetery. He died Monday night at Allen Hospital Waterloo of a heart attack survived by his wife two daughters a brother three sisters and two sisters from Tripoli Denver and Waverly.
Regular dinner meeting of Tri poli Commercial Club members is planned for Monday February 16 at city hall. Ladies of Faith United Church of Christ will serve the 7:00 dinner. Members may be contacted for dinner reservations and should reach club secretary Ray Bunger by Saturday noon if overlooked.
Tripoli Readlyn Sanitation Agency officials announce no garbage collection on Monday February 16 due to county landfill closure for Washington's Birthday observance.
Washington's Birthday will be observed Monday February 16 with no counter service or rural delivery at Tripoli Post Office and American Savings Bank. The star route will operate to protect P O box service and outgoing mail will be collected from the street box and processed in Waterloo.
At the Denver Fire Department monthly meeting Dick Nicol resigned after ten years to move to Jesup and Rolin Joslin also submitted his resignation after twenty years. Replacements will be named at the March meeting. Chief Art Kurtz noted possible applicants and that blanks are available from the department.
The Potters Siding Cooperative Creamery Company annual meeting on February 3 1976 reported 1975 receipts of 1 948 313 dollars and total milk receipts 23 166 662 pounds with 3 465 957 pounds grade A. Erwin Blasberg and Donald Schneer were re elected to three year director terms while Blasberg Wallace Miller Kerr Hennings and remaining directors Peters and Schneer were re elected to office. John Meier is manager of the plant.

Suhr Construction of Denison submitted the low bid of 4900 for demolition and cleanup of the burned Tri-Fab site on North Main Street in Tripoli. City officials plan to use the cleared area for parking and to install an 18 to 21 inch storm sewer from the alley to the creek.
Music Mothers of Tripoli unity School stage a wagon train themed benefit variety show to aid the Music Department. The event, titled Westward Ho Ho, runs Friday and Saturday March 26-27 at Tripoli High School gym, with organizational meetings beginning February 17 at 7 30 p.m. Wagonmasters and contacts listed for signup.
The Tri-Fab fiberglass plant fire in 1973 led to bankruptcy and SBA control. Tripoli City Council approved a $4,500 bid for the property with a possible public overbid at sale. If overbid occurs, the winner reimburses city cleanup costs. final price could reach $4,900 if no further bids emerge.

Tripoli and Denver co host the class 1A boys sectional tournament with first round games set for Feb 23 25 and 26 at Tripoli and Denver. Janesville plays Plainfield Feb 23 7 30 pm at Tripoli with Denver Fredericksburg and Tripoli holding byes. The sectional final is Feb 26 7 30 pm at Tripoli.
Tripoli hosts earned a 53 47 victory over South Winneshiek in a Tuesday basketball game. The Panthers trailed early as South Winneshiek built a 10 point lead, then pulled within two by the end of the first period and rallied late in the second to seize the momentum.
Tripoli Panthers edged Nashua 27-25 in a mixed dual meet with key wins by Tim Smalley at 155 and Don Petersen at heavyweight. Kevin Kuhrt led scoring with 13 points and 10 rebounds as John Rewoldt added 13 points in a stout balanced effort.
Elaine Duecker of Tripoli won first place in a Bicentennial emblem contest with 39 entries judged. Her emblem depicts Sweets Marsh goose flight gears for industry and a plow for agriculture, honoring Tripoli's history and heritage. A display of all entries will be shown in Hasbrouck-Voetmann Lumber Co. window in Tripoli.
