Eldon J. Hoppenworth a respected banker in Juindy Center will assume management of Parkersburg State Bank starting January 1972. The bank with an office in New ford notes the Hoppenworths have purchased controlling interest in Parkersburg State Bank.
The National Dairy Cattle Congress directors in Waterloo announce the 1972 show dates September 23 to October 1, returning to traditional timing as flood control work nears completion.
Eldon Hoppenworth, longtime Farmers Savings Bank executive in Grundy Center since 1961, seeks a home in Parkersburg with his wife Judy and two sons. He is a Tri Poli High School and Iowa State alumnus with economics and animal husbandry training, plus banking education from the American Bankers Association and the Graduate School of Banking at Madison.
Funeral services were held in Cedar Falls for Joseph Dorn 58 of 3010 Neola St. He died Tuesday evening at Allen Memorial hospital of a heart attack. Dorn was a circulation sales representative for the Waterloo Daily Courier covering multiple towns. He was born March 19 1913 in Waverly and is survived by his wife two brothers a half brother and a sister.
A Social Security Administration official will hold sessions at the Courthouse Assembly Room in Waverly on January 10 and 24 and at Sumner City Hall on January 20 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Vernon S. Meyer, District Manager, states people may call the Waterloo office at 525 W. 5th Street, 234-1554, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
David and Lisa Timmerman, children of Mr and Mrs Leland Timmerman, came home Thursday from Mercy hospital Waverly after surgeries performed Monday.

November sales of Series E and H savings bonds in Bremer County totaled 33 506, reaching an eleven month county total of 450 291 or 94 percent of the 1971 quota. The Iowa statewide eleven month total is 76 992 778 at 102 percent of quota.

Mrs Gustav Kuker was taken to Allen hospital in Waterloo on Christmas Eve and is listed as a patient in the coronary care unit.
Tripoli hosts Plainfield in a close dual meet, overcoming a 21-6 deficit with three pins Kent Harms 167 Lloyd Zander 185 and Ronny Bergmann heavyweight securing wins. Final score 24-21 with listed match results and upcoming Tripoli events.
Winter sports resume at Tripoli Community Schools with the boys basketball team hosting UNI High on January 4 at 7 00 p m. The wrestling squad returns January 8 for an invitational. The Pantherettes played in a Christmas tourney at Bode and restart January 7 with a Dunkerton conference trip for both teams.
The Senior Citizens of the Tri Poli area hold a pot luck supper on Wednesday January 5 at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall. Cards will provide entertainment after the business meeting. All seniors are welcome.
