Death summons Henry Huebner in Sumner
Henry Huebner 66 lifelong Bremer County resident died at his Pleasant Street home Saturday of a paralytic stroke after a two day illness. Born February 20 1865 in Maxfield Township he farmed near Buck Creek and Tri Poli before moving to Sumner ten years ago. Survived by his wife Sophia Knief four daughters and four sons plus three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services are planned Tuesday at St John s Lutheran with Rev C J Mardorf officiating. burial in the Buck Creek Lutheran cemetery.

Rev C J Mardort officiated. The bride wore white satin and carried a shower bouquet of roses and narcissus. Attendants were Miss Emilda Borechering Miss Annetta Koester of Eldorado and Merwin Fritz Clarence Niewehnr of Hawkeye. A reception and dinner followed at the bride s home for relatives and a wedding dance was held at the American Legion hall. The couple will live on a farm west of Hawkeye.

Fred Zieness Leaves After Extended Visit
Fred Zieness departed Saturday after a seven week stay at the homes of Dr. Borchert and Ed Borchert. A Chetek Wisconsin native, he traveled to Harmony Minnesota to visit his daughter and son in law Glen Otis to collect her father for a day with old acquaintances. He previously built the residence now occupied by Art Koop and left with his family forty years ago, returning here only twice since.

Readlyn Barn Fire Destroys Ganske Farm Buildings
A large barn on the John Ganske farm two miles north of Readlyn burned Sunday evening at about 7 30. Twelve cattle three horses a colt hay and about 500 bushels of oats were lost. A nearby hover house also burned. The Buhrow family occupied the farm and neighbors saw the blaze first. Readlyn and Tripoli fire trucks saved other structures. Loss estimated over 5000, insured. Cause unknown.

A fire Saturday at 6:30 in Frederika destroyed a barn, garage, hog house, poultry house and much feed. A cow and some poultry perished. Loss over 1500 dollars. Fire likely from gasoline vapor exploded during filling a car by Dicky Carroll. Nearby structures were saved by local effort and aid from Tripoli and New Hampton fire trucks.

Waverly relatives mourn Will Winchell a former local resident who died Tuesday noon at his Los Angeles home from a cerebral hemorrhage linked to long time high blood pressure. He was 69. He moved to Bremer county as a boy, lived in Waterloo, his wife died three years ago, and he lived with his sister in California since. Survived by five brothers and two sisters including John Bert Walter Kate McDermott Frank Charles and Mrs Goodsell.

Mishler Awarded Legion Cup For First Aid Heroism
Glenn Mishler of this city received the annual Waterloo post American Legion cup for best first aid work in the Wapsipinicon area. He saved Arland Thieking at the municipal bathing beach this summer by breaking a dangerous hold and carrying him to safety as a companion rescued the other boy. Della and Elva Moehling, daughters of Herman Moehling, were injured in an automobile crash near Clarksville last Sunday, requiring stitches and hospital care after their car collided head on with another.
