Fire Destroys Two Buildings Near Highways Junction
A fire at the Ervin M. Kuecker farm two and a half miles from the Highways 93 junction destroyed two buildings and caused $2,000 to $2,500 damage last Thursday. The blaze started from a ditch fire spreading through the yard and was discovered around 3 p.m. with the Frederika and local fire departments responding. No hogs were harmed and only the corn crib was affected.

Funeral Rites Friday For Henry Sassmann Former Supervisor
Henry Sassmann 77 died of a stroke at his farm near Denver. Funeral services were held Friday at St. Pauls Evangelical and Reformed church Mount Vernon township with Rev. John Steves officiating. Burial at Fairview cemetery Denver. Survived by wife Elizabeth a son Alvin a daughter Mrs Harry Koepke a brother John six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He served on the Bremer County Board of Supervisors for six years and as township trustee for 15 years. Born July 22 1879 in Black Hawk county he married Elizabeth Kegebein Nov 15 1900. He and his wife farmed south of Denver 46 years. Preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Rural schools that can arrange regular milk delivery and provide refrigeration should contact the Bremer County Superintendent's office and county school nurse for aid in applying for the special School Milk Program. Superintendent R C Gaard notes Iowa will get about 17 percent more for school lunches and 30 percent more for milk funds. Bremer County lists 37 schools in the milk program with 469 656 pints used and $6,658.95 in federal aid.
