Corn Acreage Drops and Soybean Uptick in August Report
Fewer corn acres for harvest than July indicated due to drownouts and unplanted areas. August soybean acreage up by about 500000 acres from a month earlier. Traders expect corn use next season to exceed USDA's 6.1 billion bushels forecast with 400 million 1973 production. Wisner warns supplies may stay tight but enough for demand, with a potential October 1 carryover of 700 to 800 million bushels, leaving 300 to 400 million as a bare minimum.
