The Rev. Lester Gatch of Tripoli joins more than 150 advance registrants from seven states for a Religion and Medicine conference to be held in Waverly August 28 and 29. Rohlf Memorial Clinic Foundation and Wartburg College sponsor the event, with about 250 clergymen physicians and nurses expected to attend.

Waterloo wedding and park day celebrate community fair
Mr and Mrs Frederick C Smith wed August 10 in Waterloo and reside in the Mrs Lena Schnurstein apartment. Mrs Smith is Joyce Teeple, daughter of Mr and Mrs C R Teeple Waterloo. Mr Smith, a grade school principal, is son of Mr and Mrs Howard Smith Garden Grove. The event featured seniors top awards, junior contest winners Kathy Kuethe Janet Burns and Vicky Burrow, and nightly entertainment from a Waterloo Colored Elks drill team and a German band. Prizes included 40 dollars drawn, 25 10 5 dollars promotions, plus prize drawings for those not present. Park rides carnival races contests and a dance capped the day with winners named in multiple events.
