Tripoli events kick off Friday with fireworks after dark east of downtown park. Tractor Roadeo for ages under and over 18 offers up to $100 in merchandise. A long list of contests includes eating, pie, nail driving, three legged races and egg candling with cash prizes. Entertainment includes rides for kids, a flower show, cake baking, an egg quality contest, a band concert, prize drawings over $300 in merchandise, and a street dance sponsored by VFW after the fireworks.

Readlyn resident Roger A. Kimball, 25, was hospitalized in Waterloo after his car left the road and hit an embankment last Wednesday evening. The 1955 Plymouth suffered about $550 in damage. Kimball had chest injuries.

Funeral Service Today in Denver for Edwin L. Dorn
Edwin L. Dorn 43 died of a heart condition and arthritis at home. Funeral services were conducted by Matthias Funeral Home and St John’s Lutheran Church with burial at Fairview Cemetery. Dorn was born April 23 1913 and married Lena Hesse August 18 1942. He is survived by his wife a son Bruce his mother Mrs Helena Dorn three brothers Ernest Ludwig Henry and two sisters.

Readlyn Independent School district voters approved an 8500 bond issue to fund a bus garage that will provide temporary classroom space. Of 90 votes, 84 were yes, five no, one spoiled. The district will use 6500 in hand to buy a site and construct the building for current shortages and later convert it to a bus garage.
