Sixteenth annual Wapsie Sportsmen's Fish Fry in Tripoli
The Sixteenth annual Wapsie Sportsmen's Club fish fry drew about 2,270 attendees Sunday evening at Tripoli South Park for walleye fillet, biscuits, cabbage, and sides. Final counts show 1,971 paid admissions plus an estimated 300 children free, near the prior year's high. Weather threat kept some away, yet no rain fell. Consumption included 1400 pounds walleye, 600 pounds shortening, 700 pounds cabbage, 85 pounds butter, 150 gallons coffee, 126 bags chips, 1300 half-pint milks, 18 pints cream.

Big winner of the evening received a free four person vacation at Bay View resort in Hackensack Minnesota plus $100 in vacation money.
