Corn earworm control effort targets US corn loss
The U S Department of Agriculture estimates the corn earworm causes about 40 million dollars in field corn damage annually with higher losses in sweet corn. A non arsenic barium fluorosilicate dust sprayed on silks helps control the pest, with timing of applications every one to two weeks and care to avoid overdose, as tests show up to ninety five percent clean crop in some cases.

Wheat Acreage Adjustment Plan Aims To Stabilize Prices
Wheat statistics show low yields often lead to higher next year output and a persistent surplus. The plan offers farmers a bonus for reducing acreage by up to 20 percent for 1934 and 1935, funded by the federal government to maintain domestic purchasing power similar to 1910-14 levels, with adjustments based on average prices and other factors. Bremer county growers are invited to participate to align production with demand and secure better prices.
