A Tripoli based spraying firm unveils remodeling plans for the Walter Building to use as main equipment storage with one full time worker to join this summer. The owner cites ongoing projects and right of way brush control work with Bremer County and others in Iowa.
A town hall meeting for all Tripoli area recreation committee members and residents is scheduled for Tuesday April 30 at 8 00 p m The meeting moved from night to daytime due to a school conflict and urges attendance to plan a new approach for the recreation facility project Also noted is a Citizens meeting on May 1 with a supper at 6 o clock in support of the drive and seniors attending Mercy hospital Wav y observation news item
Funeral services for the Rev. Clark M. Crowell 77 will be held at 2 p m Thursday at First Congregational Cedar Falls with interment at Greenwood cemetery He died Monday afternoon at Sartori hospital Crowell served as interim pastor at Faith United Church of Christ Tripoli in 1967 He established a memorial fund for First Congregational Church Crowell born June 23 1890 in Rockford minister for 50 years in Iowa Methodist Baptist and Congregational churches He retired in 1960 and lived in Cedar Falls Survivors include Ruth his widow three sons Clark Jr Gerald Kenneth two daughters Barbara O Mara Dorothy Erickson and 15 grandchildren He was preceded by five brothers and a sister.
Daylight saving time begins at 2:00 a.m. Sunday April 28 affecting Tripoli and much of Iowa and the nation. Citizens should set clocks ahead one hour before sleeping Saturday night. The time will be in effect on waking Sunday morning.
Pastor Harry Feistner will be installed as pastor of St. John Frederika and St. Paul Siegel on Sunday April 28 with services at 9 and 10 30 am conducted by Rev S M Schreitmueller of Waterloo Feistner arrived April 22 and will reside at the St Paul parsonage He and wife Marilyn natives of Goodell have three children Debra 9 Cynthia 6 and Barry 1 Feistner born 1930 in Woonsocket SD graduated Wartburg College 1953 and Wartburg Seminary 1957 His first charge was near Oregon IL He has served in Liberal KS and Belgrade NE He is an Eagle Scout attended South Dakota Boys State and plans to hangar his own airplane near Frederika.

Tripoli Women’s Bowling Association schedules a meeting on Tuesday April 30 at 7 30 p m at Tripoli Bowl. The session will cover club matters and organize upcoming events. Members are urged to attend for discussion and planning.
Historical photo from 1884 shows C Wilharm blacksmith and wagon shop once on the Tripoli Mercantile site. The building later housed CANtile Co grocery and then the German Savings Bank before Interstate 0 construction altered the block.

Wapsie Valley music department will present their annual spring concert Tuesday April 30 at 8 00 p m in the high school gymnasium. Vocal music by the girls glee club and mixed chorus and instrumental selections by the concert band. During the social hour the swing band will perform. No admission charged.
The Instrumental Music Department of Tripoli Community Schools presents a spring concert on Monday April 29 at 8 p m. Admission is free. The elementary band junior high band and senior high band perform under director Keith Van Bronkhorst.
David L. Kalkbrenner has been named assistant manager of Crocker Citizens National Bank's Westlake office in Daly City California. He previously spent three years at Peoples Bank and Trust in Waterloo before joining Crocker Citizens in 1963 for operating supervisor training in San Francisco. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lester Kalkbrenner of Tripoli.
Judy Kane, senior at Wapsie Valley High School, has been chosen by the Iowa Extension Home Economists Association for a 1968 scholarship of 375 dollars. The award covers the first three quarters at Iowa State University in Ames for home economics study.
Iowa Highway Patrols license examining team served 79 persons during their Saturday morning session in Tripoli Town Hall. They issued 7 new licenses 10 instruction permits renewed 20 chauffeur and 42 operator licenses. They also had 14 written tests and 7 driving tests. The examining team will return to Tripoli Saturday May 18.
The State Conservation Commission traveling wildlife exhibit will be shown at Tripoli elementary school on Wednesday May 8. The 40 foot trailer carries about 100 living animals with staff on hand to answer questions and hand out literature. The unit tours Iowa schools since 1948 and draws about 800000 viewers yearly.

Tripoli Panthers track team edged hosting Sumner Aces by 69 to 68 in a close Wednesday dual. Max Ambrose led with wins in the 100 and 220 yard dashes as Tripoli posted ten firsts and four relays, while Sumner earned seven firsts and nine thirds.
Deadline for purchasing tickets for the bowling banquet is Wednesday May 1 according to the banquet committee. Tickets are available from league secretaries or at Tripoli Bowl In Durum Inn Readlyn or Farmers Savings Bank Frederika. The banquet is scheduled for Thursday May 9 at 6 39 PM in the Riviera Ballroom Janesville with a dance after dinner. Admission is 175 per person including dinner and dance.
Bremer County Tuberculosis and Health Association elected officers at a Tripoli dinner meeting. Elias Pardee and wife won a top post to direct group activities. Other officers include Mrs. Lyle Ormston seal chair, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Oberlieu secretary treasurer, and Mrs. Paul Harms seal chair. Additional duties assigned to several members. Recognition certificates were given for 5 to 18 years of service to listed members.
Mr and Mrs Fred Brase with Mrs Adolph Brase traveled to Iowa City Monday to visit the latter's husband, a patient at Veterans Hospital.
Weather forced cancellation of the Jesup dual meet Tuesday. Tripoli Pantherettes varsity and junior high will run in the D G relays at Dysart on April 30 with preliminaries at 4 00 p m. Remaining schedule includes May 1 invitational at MFL May 6 dual at Denver and May 9 district at Toledo and May 18 state meet.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Kirchhoff and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Heinemann were overnight guests in Bettendorf. Saturday the men played in the fourth annual John Deere bowling tournament at Moline, Illinois.
