A fire at about 4 pm Monday destroyed most household goods of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moeller five miles south of Readlyn. Neighbors from Readlyn and Dunkerton aided, with nearby farm buildings and the Methodist church at risk across the road. Mrs. Moeller and daughter Marilyn were nearby. only a few items saved. Fire believed caused by a short circuit near an electric refrigerator damaged the Minney Meat Market building on Main Street. Workmen began improvements on A. H. Panzer’s house at the south end of Main street. The former Mrs. H. H. Bunger dwelling, moved here last winter from the school district, is being rebuilt with a cement wall poured in a single day using Rebholz and Drape’s new mixer. Joseph Gishpert 50 died in a Cincinnati hospital on Tuesday April 10 and his body was sent for burial here on Thursday. Born in Waverly fifty years ago he was the uncle of Mrs. Stephen Cretzmeyer. He lived here as a child before the family moved west and he suffered tuberculosis for weeks. He leaves his mother three sisters and two brothers. Funeral was at St Marys Catholic Church Thursday morning.
