Tripoli shoppers still have a chance to enter for cash prizes totaling 200 dollars as the big Spring Dividend Days promotion nears its end. A drawing will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday to determine 40 winners among participants.
Boxes containing signed tickets must be brought to the American Savings Bank corner by 6 15 p m Saturday night. If closed Saturday night deposits may be made earlier than 8 15 p m at Tripoli Implement Co where the master container will be stored until p m. Ensure tickets arrive on time for an 8 30 p m drawing.
Shoppers may win cash prizes in a Saturday night drawing at the American Savings Bank corner starting 8 30 p m with twelve awards including 100 first prize 50 second prize and ten five dollar prizes. tickets must be in merchant boxes by 8 p m and boxes will be collected by merchants by 8 15 p m.
Two local youths Arlin Richmann aged 20 and Robert Kuker 18, residents near Readlyn, escaped serious injuries after a Friday evening crash on a dead end road one mile west and five miles north of Readlyn. They suffered facial lacerations and other cuts, spent Friday night at Allen Memorial hospital Waterloo, released Saturday noon.
Gloria Jane Sell daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Kirchhoff will wed Virgil Bruns son of Mr and Mrs Edward Bruns in Grace Lutheran Church here at 3 p m on April 24. The couple plans marriage in this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Biesterfelt entertained Wednesday evening for their 45th anniversary. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Biesterfelt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Biesterfelt and Danny, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Biesterfelt and Mary, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Moeller.

Four clinics will administer the Salk polio vaccine to first and second graders on designated dates in Sumner Denver Waverly and Plainfield areas. Clinics run mornings with students assigned to specific centers. Second dose follows one week after and the booster four weeks later.
Funeral services were held at Rettig Funeral home and Congregational church for Mrs Anna Rebholz 71 a long time Tripoli resident who died Saturday in Scholtz Memorial hospital Waterloo of complications of old age The Rev L E Gatch officiated with burial in Fremont cemetery Casket bearers were A A Belknap M W Bennett H W Krueger H J Frese J P Snelling and W H Warner She was born March 2 1884 at Battle Lake Minnesota daughter of Bertram and Bertram Bjorness educated in public schools attended St Cloud and Moorhead colleges and taught in western Minnesota before marrying A F Rebholz on Oct 16 1912 They moved to Tripoli and lived there until their deaths Mr Rebholz died Dec 2 1937 She is survived by two sons Francis Cedar Falls and Howard Waterloo six grandchildren two sisters and three brothers She was president of the Congregational Women's Fellowship and later secretary and taught Sunday school for years
The Tripoli Commercial club will host a guest speaker next Monday at Town hall to discuss summer recreation programs. The meeting includes a dinner at 7 p m served by Grace Lutheran church ladies. members should reserve with the secretary by Friday.
Lyle Kappmeyer of Fort Riley Kansas is spending a 27 day leave with his parents Mr and Mrs Edwin Kappmeyer. After his leave is finished he will be stationed in Germany.
Arthur Frederick Heine 62 died Sunday after a long illness. Services Thursday at Rettig Funeral Home and St Peters Evangelical and Reformed Church with Rev E F Puhlmann officiating. Burial in St Peters cemetery. Survivors include wife Sadie, sister Lulu Bortz and brothers Werner and Lawrence. He was born in Warren township Bremer county February 18 1893 and lived at Tripoli before moving to town.
Alvin Bergmann is a patient at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo after breaking his leg while dehorning cattle at his brother Emil Bergmanns home.
Field work began in earnest as sunny skies and drying winds allowed planting and seeding to proceed. Temperatures reached up to 76 degrees with only light rain, and a cold low of 27 was recorded last Thursday morning as the week warmed.
Rober Buechele's pickup, used for freight and light trucking, was destroyed by a fire at the town dump Saturday. Fire fed by highly inflammable cleaning fluid and rubbish. insurance covered the loss. Tripoli Fire Department arrived after the blaze had consumed the truck.
Russell D Watts will hold a public auction at his farm near the junction of Highways 63 and 93 four miles west of Tripoli. Butler-Bremer Mutual Telephone Co buys Potter Siding Co line on stock exchange plan. Sale completed last week with possession July 1. Twenty Potter Siding farmers receive Butler-Bremer stock for equipment. Potter Siding subscribers rebuilt their line. three farm lines remain outside Butler-Bremer.
Floyd Hobbs of Butler-Bremer Mutual Telephone Co announces a new public telephone booth will be installed in downtown Tri poli. Approved at a Saturday meeting, the booth will be open 24 hours and likely placed near the center of the business district.
Geo M Lindsley of Tripoli was elected president of the Bremer County Rural Teachers at a Waverly court house meeting Monday night. Officers elected included Mrs Grace Turner vice president Evelyn Lageschulte secretary and Helen Brase treasurer. The meeting closed the current school year. Speaker Worley Iowa Conservation Commission public relations head spoke about a summer session course on conservation for teachers and showed slides.
The American Lutheran church hosts a spring pastoral conference in Jesup on Monday and Tuesday with Rev. Fred Darnauer as host pastor. Pastors from area congregations affiliated with the American Lutheran church are expected to attend.
Mr and Mrs P L Crittenden accompanied Mr and Mrs George Feringa from Waverly to Waterloo where they received citizenship at the Federal Court on Tuesday.
Marilyn Burrack daughter of Rev and Mrs Wm Burrack wed Roger Field son of Mr and Mrs Oscar Field in St John Lutheran church Maxfield township. Father of the bride officiated. The couple will reside at Coral Trailer Court Iowa City after Friday. The bride is a University of Iowa nursing junior and the groom a senior in liberal arts.

William H. Pockels 79 longtime Long County official died last Thursday at Waverly Convalescent Home. Burial was in Harlington cemetery. A lifelong Waverly resident, he had been in failing health months. He served as county treasurer and county auditor for several years.
Five new teachers sought by the Tripoli Independent School District Board of Education to fill the 1955 56 faculty. Thirteen current staff accepted pay increases of 200 to 300 dollars yearly. Several resignations noted and replacements planned across grades and high school.
Tripoli high school opened 1955 spring baseball with a 4-3 win over Sumner, then fell 6-3 to Janesville. Laube and Schwartz each went 3 for 3 in the Sumner game, Nicklaus pitched well, and Chapin delivered a three-run homer for Janesville in the fifth. Next games are Denver at home Thursday and Plainfield at home Monday.
C. S. Abraham a Travancore native will speak at morning worship in the Congregational church next Sunday. He studied at South India Bible Institute and the University of Travancore and is a senior at William Penn College Oskaloosa. Public invited by Rev. L. E. Gatch.
