Tripoli Town Council approved Interstate Power Co plan to install 32 new mercury vapor lamps in the business district and along Main Street at a total cost of 11 000. Installation should start in about six weeks with lights mounting on new and existing poles to create a white way along Highway 93. Extra cost estimated at about 86 dollars per month.

Ernest J Struck 83 Rites Held At St Peters Church
Funeral services for Ernest J Struck 83 of Tripoli were held Friday at St Peters Evangelical and Reformed Church with burial in St Peters Cemetery. He died Tuesday after a short illness leaving a wife Carolina Louise and children Alfred and Mrs Arthur Redies. brother Siegfried. sisters Anna and Bertha in Germany. He was born Oct 19 1876 in Richt enberg Germany and emigrated at 17 with twin Bernhard. He lived near Sumner before moving to Tripoli and worked as a painter until 1948. He and Carolina celebrated 50th anniversary Oct 31 1954.

The Federated Women’s Clubs of Bremer county held their annual convention at Sumner Methodist Church last Wednesday. Tripoli Woman’s Club members participated with invocations and education reports. A newspaper-dress modeling feature used front pages from local papers. Club Woman of the Year and Outstanding Achievement awards were given. An invitation was extended to host the 1961 county meeting in Tripoli.

Bertha Geffert Dies At 83 In Tripoli Community
Bertha Elmora Eick Geffert, 83, of Tripoli died Friday April 1 after a brief illness at Sumner hospital. Services were held Monday April 4 at Rettig Funeral Home and St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Burial in Harlington Cemetery. Survivors include son Herman, daughter Mrs Ewald Kuker, four siblings and four grandchildren. Her husband Fred Geffert died in 1949.
