Ground Breaking Held For New Housing Units
Tri-State College in Angola Indiana broke ground on a 1.5 million small residence housing project to house 215 men in five 43 unit blocks. The reinforced concrete brick exterior complex will be built on West Park Avenue near the tennis courts and financed by a HUD loan arranged by Dr. L A Willig.

Tri-State College President Urges Alumni Ties and Team Effort
Dr Richard M Bateman president of Tri State College spoke at the annual convocation in Angola High School gym Oct 18 stressing alumni support noting 50 alumni associations visited all but two. He outlined school student team effort and the placement system. Dr L A Willig EVP discussed new campus constructions and financing. Dr F J Bogardus spoke on curriculum and added courses including graduate study for TSC students.

Miss Cynthia Lynn Rowe named Co Ed of the Week. She studies in the School of Business Administration and is in her fifth accounting quarter. A former Garrett Indiana resident, she now lives on Lake Gage and enjoys the lake area and running her Aftgan dog. She cheered at basketball games and plays piano and flute.

The Tri State College Fall Festival weekend showcased strong student participation across freshmen events John G Best Hall of Science dedication attendance and a parade with thirteen trophies awarded Phi Kappa Theta won the Scavenger Hunt Sigma Phi Delta placed second Sigma Phi Epsilon won the Red Race and decorated entries earned top honors Platt Cameron and Atwood Halls float was voted most beautiful Sigma Phi Epsilon most humorous The Miss Fall Festival Queen was Connie Fox with a court of Lynn Hensinger Kathy Thompson Ruth Fair and Carol Smith Special praise was given to committee chairs for organizing activities and the Student Senate celebrated active independent student participation on campus

Seaborg Urges Need For More Scientists
Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, urged doubling the supply of chemists physicists life scientists and mathematicians by 1975 and increasing engineers by ten thirds in a Tri State College dedication address. He spoke at the John G Best Hall of Science opening and urged broader science education to face future challenges. The ceremony included college leaders and local officials and honored Seaborg with an honorary degree.
