Alpha Sigma Phi House Mortgage Burned At Lake Jaides Country Club
The Beta Omicron Chapter celebrated the mortgage payoff of five thousand dollars with a mortgage burning ceremony at Lake Jaides Country Club last Saturday evening. Ray Alwood led the burning after dinner as Nick Santiano opened the program with new member recognition. More than 200 attended the event, which capped a weekend of activities with alumni speakers including Ray Alwood Angela Indiana Harold Bolkey Erie Pennsylvania and John Cannon Cleveland Ohio. Willig says eligibility steps remain and final membership in the North Central Association of Colleges is pursued by July 1966. James Q. Morley, civil engineering senior at Tri State College, won first place in the ASCE Northeast Indiana Section student paper competition held in Fort Wayne with a project on Indiana's Registration Act for Professional Engineers. Second and third places went to Indiana Institute of Technology students. Vester and Johnston presented plans on boards and uniformity. Morley’s win marks the third time Tri State has earned the top prize in four years.

Seventy Leaders Appointed Bateman Appointed To Serve On Governor's Committee
Dr Richard M Bateman president of Tri State College was named by Governor Branigan to a 70 member Indiana life leaders committee. The panel will advise on Indiana’s bid for the 280 million dollar federal proton accelerator site and present data to the Atomic Energy Commission and National Academy of Science. Purdue President Hovde and Ta Pan University President Stahi were named co chairs. George Schilling will be secretary with Dr Richard Grosh and James E Farmer aiding data compilation for a June 15 report.
