Glen S Beatty and Hermon Phillips co chair a community growth program backing Tri State College. First National Bank of Angola donates 5000 dollars while businessmen, merchants, and local branches pledge support for campus expansion including science building, student center, athletics facilities, and faculty housing.
Tri-State College outlines needs for expansion and new construction. Tuition income alone will cover operating costs, so funds must come from other sources to support facilities and growth plans.
Dr Ralph Gilchrist chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering says Tri State College and the National Science Foundation would each fund half of a $30000 grant to upgrade the electrical laboratory. The department submitted the application on January 14 with a May decision deadline. The foundation may adjust the grant size as it sees fit.
