Patricia Lou Shiner a Peace Corps volunteer will visit Tri State campus April 10 and 11 to expose juniors and seniors to the Peace Corps program. Don ald Pepe will accompany her. she previously served in Ghion Ethiopia teaching English and aiding public health efforts.
The winter quarter scholastic honors list names nine Gold Key recipients for top marks and ten Silver Key awardees for high achievement. Gold Key honorees include Melvin Babcock, Gary Bumgarner, Linden Gray, Kenneth Mawby, Kim Miller, Frank Solana, Alex Sorton, and Theodore Swaldo. Silver Keys go to George Batty, Donghan Choi, Douglas Domeck, Jeffrey Erbe, Thomas Rowe, Richard Rudolph, Janet Tapp, Russell Tobolic, and James Vander Meer.
The Dutton Percussion Quartet led by James Dutton will perform Friday April 14 in the Angola High School auditorium opening Tri-State College concert season finale. Admission is open to the public with $1 for nonstudents and no reserved seats. students admitted with ID. The group tours with nearly 50 instruments and mixes classical, jazz, show tunes and new works.
A new fraternity name appears on campus as Beta Phi Theta affiliates with Delta Chi and the house at 112 8 Darling St is now a colony. Delta Chi traces to 1890 at Cornell and now has 65 chapters and colonies. the house is expected to reach chapter status within a year.
The InterFraternity Council unveils Greek Week events from April 30 to May 6. Torch lighting at each fraternity on Sunday, exchange dinner Monday, open Tuesday for fraternity meetings, pledge talk Wednesday, workshop Thursday, dance Friday, chariot race greased pig tug of war Saturday, and a carnival at Angola High School parking lot. Each fraternity runs booths and a food stand for attendees.
Seniors graduating in June or August must sign diploma cards by April 14. Diploma cards are available at the registrar’s office.
