Formidable Spanish Fleet Reported Moving Toward Havana

The Navy Department received word that several Spanish warships left Carthagena headed west. The fleet includes two second class armored cruisers Infanta Maria Teresa and Cristobal Colon, escorted by a torpedo boat destroyer, likely bound for Havana via the Canaries.

Daughters of the Revolution Gather in Boston

The General Society of the Daughters of the Revolution will meet in Boston April 25 and 26 hosted by the Massachusetts Society. A preliminary delegates meeting is set for 9:30 a.m. Monday with the regular session at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The state society hosts officers and members, a reception at the Algonquin, an evening meeting, and excursions to historic sites in the Boston area.

Indians Driven Out as Aerial Tramway Opens at Dyea

Seattle March 31 Advices from Dyea report white packers have driven off Indian packers at the summit with hundreds of men racing the route. The Dyea Klondike tramway is in operation while Burns hoists run to the summit. Pack trains haul freight to Seep Camp and Lake Bennett at low costs, with workers earning $6 to $15 daily as roads melt and demand soars.

Shooting Affray Reported From Skaguay on March 24
