Diamond Mine Chronology From Early Agreement To Modern Mill
The piece traces a sequence of deals starting with a split ownership offer to Mr. Locken and a transfer to James M. Smith and T. M. Reece. Ton Cooney later gains a bond and buys the Diamond claim for 8 000 dollars, with Cooney teaming at times with Smith and George H. Weston. Partners Miller Wilson and Angus McDonald join, pursuing small-scale work and an expensive 40stamp mill that failed, leading to a sale to a Scotch syndicate. Now the property hosts Montana’s largest gold mill and a major electric power plant, with the mill to be started soon and ore supply expected to last for years.
