Readers report fine weather in Diamond as Henry Fowler returns and many residents travel to Helena East Helena Crow Agency and Boulder. Mining work advances with a five foot vein at Satellite Mining and placer ventures by Amen and Penna. A fire at Mrs D Arcy residence is contained with no injuries and a large soap scam surfaces in town.

Notices warn against driving on sidewalks per Ordinance No 6 and promote health products. An editorial tone urges support for women’s rights and a shift in domestic expectations, praising the “advanced life” for women and the idea of shared duties. Thomas McCormick and Fick McCormick establish a co partnership in Townsend Meagher County Montana. The notary Charles H Baldwin witnessed their January 28 1896 acknowledgment for the livery and saloon business.
Notice announces Charles J Pitts and David T Williams filing final proof for land claims in Montana. Pitts tests residence and cultivation for SW of Bee 3 T7N R2E with witnesses McCain Murray L Murray Sullivan at White Sulphur Springs and nearby towns. Williams seeks final proof for E of SE quarter of section 28 T5N R1E with Radersburg witnesses Williams Thompson Johnson. Public protest and cross examination rights are noted. First publication January 30, 1896.
