Great roosting crows fill woods near Dentonville
From the Atchison Grove, millions of crows roost at night in a woods about a half mile from Dentonville and four and a half miles north of Huron. They arrive before twilight and continue until after dark. Some feed as far as Marysville, Seneca, and the Kaw river. Attempts to drive them away years ago failed. Crows roost across woods spanning more than four square miles, occasionally breaking tree limbs. A grove four miles from the roost once hosted other roosting crows exploring a possible move, but the change was not made.
