Philadelphia reports Mc Kinley has become a companion of the Military Order of Foreign Wars of the United States. The Pennsylvania commandery is the largest with veterans of Mexican War and other distinguished officers. The order honors service in the American Revolution, Tripoli War, War of 1812, and Mexican War.
Detec tives Emrich and McNeil arrested Ww. Newley at the Melburn hotel Denver May mar last evening and he was sent to Garden City Kansas under W T Watson Santa Fe agent. Newley is wanted for grand larceny in Garden City after stealing a bicycle and jumping bond. Bondsman Watson came to aid. Also notes colored Wheelmen group in Topeka forming Western Star Bicycle club planning first run to Tecumseh from Adams hotel Third and Kansas avenue at 3 30 tomorrow. London dispatch reports Sydney papers fined for contempt of court over remarks on Frank Butler trial. Reno reports a strong earthquake shock lasting minutes from north to south.
Philadelphia May 15 The day marked by President McKinley as he and other dignitaries reviewed the parade and spoke on Washington. The ceremony featured compliments to George Washington and the monument, with a 40,000 strong wheelmen parade and electric lights from the monument and City Hall as part of celebratory events.
