George Kilauer known as Cheerful George, longtime local bootlegger, closed his joint behind his brother's cigar shop at 624 Kananayue. Chief Stahl aided by police earlier seized several cases of beer found in nearby rear rooms. Trade reportedly declined under Stahl’s crackdown. Kilauer faced court the Friday after his arrest. Escaped Dodge City horse thief SU Clair saw jail escape by sawing bars.
