London May 7 AP Sceptre led the field at Newmarket today after winning the 2000 Guineas last Wednesday. The filly held a clear advantage in the early stages and appears poised for further success this season.
Des Moines reports tornadoes across Iowa injuring six and causing about $50,000 property loss. Bayard and Weldon suffered major damage including the St Paul depot destroyed and several farm buildings wrecked.
