A westbound light engine collided with the eastbound Overland passenger train near Walcott station. Fireman Ronald was killed. Engineer Walter Marsh of No. 4 survived after rescue. Two railroad mail clerks were lightly injured. Engines and mail car demolished. wrecking crew on scene. Walcott is the first station west of Fu Steele.
Atchison Kansas reports a six hour heavy shower last night across southern Nebraska and northern Kansas. The rainfall averaged two inches, ending a two week dry spell and promising a record corn crop as Missouri Pacific officers relay the general rainfall pattern.
A seven year old white girl, daughter of Alonzo Newton, was found hanged near the Newton home in Fannin County Texas. News spread as deputies and neighbors searched the area. City officials vowed swift action while public sentiment feared mob violence and possible arrests, with no clear suspects named.
Trieste dispatch claims Admiral Dewey on the Olympia predicts a coming conflict with Germany. He asserts Germany aims to block power rivals and hints at policy to prevent others from gaining what she claims for herself.
