No final steps or funding will be set until the last moment and plans continue amid newspaper speculation about the admiral's response.
Fort Smith July 23 The Grand Jury returned 12 indictments against Western Coal & Mining Co and Central Coal & Coke Co for violating the screen law. The law, enacted by the last legislature and in effect since the 14th, bars weighing coal after it passes a screen. Supervisors at the mines have been arrested.
Weather indications note continued warm winds for Kansas and Chicago through Friday night and Saturday with southeasterly to south winds and warm temperatures.

Officer Watt of the Foster Humane Society arrested Henry Dillon for cruelty to animals. He used two horses unfit for work, their necks torn and covered with sores. Dillon claimed he was doing his best to cure them yet needed the team for earning a living. The horses will be kept in pasture while the owner is barred from work.
Plattsburg July 24 The president likely to officiate as a judge at the Lake Champion Yacht Club regatta on August 7. Early morning outing with Mire Dunewa and Cortely, McKinley resting better and said to be in good spirits for the event.
Baltimore reports four men Gore Bellvue Gardner John Myere Charles Lamer and Joseph Bryan were hanged for the April 2 attack and murder of Mary Pach in Viewstreat. The trial followed months of testimony detailing the abduction assault and planning. Bryan confessed but claimed innocence in parts. The jury returned a verdict of murder with the death penalty after 25 minutes deliberation.
A freight train entering the Worthy Topeka yard discovered the body of a man on the tracks.
