Our Day Out Newsboys Picnic at Topeka
A Topeka Newsboys club outing unfolds with a long, lively day of trains, excursions, and mischief. Highlights include a parade of deer pens, museum gapes, balloon ascents, a party balloon launch, and a roughhouse on the return trip. A ball game ends 11 to 1 as Lawrence boys dominate, with tall tales and oaths traded among the crowd.
Thanksgiving Day Newsboys Outing and Union Charity
The Newsboys union organized by Mr. Nissley conducts yearly Thanksgiving dinners for its members since 1997. Each year they receive a turkey, and last Christmas they got clothes. Monthly gatherings entertain the boys, with a July picnic already planned and a benefactor known as the newsboys’ friend funding meals and activities.
