Sinking of La Bourgogne After Fog Collision Near Sable Island
Halifax reports the French steamer La Bourgogne, en route from New York to Havre, sank after colliding with Cromartyshire in dense fog, 60 miles south of Sable Island. About 200 saved from 800 aboard. only one woman saved, Mrs Lacasse, wife of a Plainville language teacher. numerous passengers and officers perished.
