Woman in Chase case denies relations with Warden Chase
Miss Lou Williams formerly a Dutton house waiter and later penitentiary assistant matron testified to the committee denying any improper relations with Warden Chase. She said she left the Dutton house March 1 1893 joined the penitentiary May 1 and met Mrs Harkness in Kansas City. She testified the warden visited her room only for institutional business and denied a bath room incident. She named families she stayed with since leaving the penitentiary and said she now works at Millers restaurant in Kansas City Kansas. Philip Mullens of Armour Packing testified and S W Chase will speak before adjournment.

Huntington Arrested in New York for Free Pass Incident
Collis P. Huntington, president of the Southern Pacific railway, was arrested in New York on a charge of issuing a free pass to Frank Stone in violation of the Interstate Commerce Law. Unusual Burial Circumstances for Dell Parmelee
Dell Parmelee died Saturday at his brother in law W S Suttons home in Topeka. With no funds for a funeral an improvised pine coffin was used and neighbors covered it with white cloth. Moore of De Moss and Powell supplied a hearse and transported the body to the church and cemetery.

Susie Gay Operated On For Appendicitis In Lawrence
Susie Gay fifteen year old daughter of FP C Gay formerly Santa Fe freight agent now in California, was taken ill at a Lawrence party Friday. An operation for appendicitis was performed yesterday afternoon by doctors from Topeka and Kansas City. The operation was difficult and risky but successful. She remained improved this morning and shows good recovery prospects if she stays well for a day or two.
