The Tombstone Public School will open on September 16 as set by the local board of trustees. Two teachers will handle classes in the district’s two schoolhouses with new work outlined for the year. Textbooks adopted by the territorial board will be used under a new exchange system. parents are advised not to secure new books until class lists are formed. Five Tombstone youths depart for Roswell NM to enter the military academy, including Sam Barrow and George Scherer. The listed faculty includes principal Margaret McEnroy and staff for primary to seventh grades. Attorney Fred Sutter leaves for Tucson on a district court case. A rich ore strike was found at the 86 foot level of Tombstone Consolidated Mines Co big shaft, seen as a strong indication of large ore bodies below water level.
