The secretary of the interior issued changes to homestead assignments within irrigation projects. Settlers may assign portions of a farm west with project engineer approval and filing of an amended plat. After half the irrigable acres are reclaimed, proof of reclamation can proceed without regard to building charge payments. Mortgages may be recorded to ease loans while protecting lenders. Taft club members in Cochise County received a Washington telegram stating Tate delay will control Maryland convention on organization. A recount in one county could swing the state in Taft's favor entirely. It claims Arkanes and votes to carry the Tennessee state convention. Roosevelt at 22 percent not counting Maryland. No doubt of the outcome.
The state penitentiary received the largest consignment of prisoners, eight inmates, on the sixth of the month from three counties. Yavapai sent one, Maricopa ten, and Cochise seven. Guards accompanied the prisoners by train from Phoenix, with Governor Hunt inspecting the group aboard the private car.
Farmers in the Sulphur Springs valley install pumping plants led by Robert M Tyler, irrigation will cover hundreds of acres though each pump serves small plots. Major crops include beans corn milo maize pumpkins and melons, with expected strong profits.

Mr Fisk recovers from partial paralysis and plans return to the coast after business here. Dr H A Schell of Tucson awaits Governor Hunt's confirmation for the state optometry board, with Dr H T Southworth of Prescott and Dr E Mussen of Phoenix as fellow members. Schell, long on the board, serves as secretary after recent reelection.

A mysterious hog disease killed several hogs owned by HR Hindman in Bowie last week. All affected hogs died after about three days of illness despite various remedies. Dr. V McPharlin from San Simon opened one hog and found intestinal obstruction and kidney area clotting.

Fort Huachuca officials seek proposals for construction of a steel water pipeline and concrete intake to convey water from Garden Canyon nine miles to the post. The project, held in abeyance, was revived by Washington orders as rumors say a regiment and four additional troops of the Fourth Cavalry may be stationed there soon, making the post a regimental installation.
Dr Hall presides over changes to the dipping quarantine at the Arizona border. The anti tick solution remains temporarily, but cattle entering from Sonora are now admitted after inspection and free of ticks. The rule requiring clearance before crossing the line has been adjusted.
