Deputy Sheriff Conducts Prisoner to County Jail
Tuesday Deputy Sheriff Will White brought a negro prisoner named Smith for the county house, a U.S. prisoner held on a charge of muggling opium. Uncle Ben Goodrich returned the Touring Mexico Expedition and reported an enjoyable time. George Wilcox and son Leslie left for Phoenix in the Reo at daylight, planning a stop in Tucson and arrival in Phoenix tomorrow. Wilcox resigned the district court clerkship this morning. Local poultry fanciers plan to win ribbons in Phoenix this fall, while lunacy examinations are scheduled for tomorrow, with eleven committed since January. Col John W Walker, a guide to old Mexico tours, returned last night. Plans emerge for branch business colleges at Bisbee and Douglas by Arizona Bussuage College. Firemen strikes potentially affect the E.P. & W. Railway. Tombstone’s dramatic season closed with limited success, despite a few strong shows.

Phoenix Saloon License Revoked Amid Anti-Saloon Action
Chief Justice Kent revoked Phoenix's largest saloon license after an Anti-Saloon League petition alleging sales of liquor to minors. Complaints may target 18 other saloons. The coming session will review a law requiring fifty percent petitioned support for new licenses in unincorporated towns. A banana war by Hivat wholesalers disrupts supply and a two and a half cent per item levy is noted. Seven carloads per month are consumed in the city.
