Eight people arriving in Douglas from California have their clothing and effects fumigated by the city physician and are held in quarantine until deemed safe. The health department launches a program to prevent infantile paralysis from spreading, with all arriving children treated similarly to stop the disease from gaining a foothold.
H L Robey an early Cochise county pioneer died at the county hospital aged 79. Born in 1838 he lived in Tombstone before 1882 and played a political role in early county history. He suffered a severe smallpox illness during winter and was connected to the Free Democratic movement and to Mark A Smith.
