Governor George W P Hoot orders a military drill at Benson for 18 instruments to aid the inmates. Lieutenant Jewett directs the distribution of the band and a young musician serves as drill instructor at the industrial school. The governor expects it will benefit the inmates and the school.
Merison, who recently returned from the Colorado Springs council, expects the next Supreme Lodge session in Boston 1913 to take up the sanatorium issue. He believes Arizona will receive recognition as the order weighs a large sanatorium for its members amid optimistic reports following a favorable conference. The meeting was reported as one of the most important held, noting Chamberlain's Cough Remedy was a closing item.
A fragmented parish notice invites worshippers to morning benediction and Sunday Mass at 8 o clock followed by services, with Sunday School at 10 a m under supervision of Reeves and guests invited. A coroner’s jury finds an accidental death for 17-year-old Mervin Doonegan after a horse collision with another youth, in a picnic race at Animae valley. Other items note Kitto’s death after illness in Tucson, a long-standing family feud shooting in Silvertell, a murder suspect in Sonora detained in Globe, and the Copper Queen Gold Mining line project starting to connect Po ot Junction to the camp. Also reported are Prof Tolman leaving for Stanford, a Tucson finance committee trek, and lodge meetings planning visits from Los Angeles, with various local legal and social notes.
Percy W Coldwell of Bisbee was named superintendent of the Arizona Pioneers Home at Prescott by Governor Hunt. He succeeds Major A J Doran who resigned recently. Coldwell, a civil engineer, has thirty years in Arizona and is well known in Cochise County and southern Arizona.
In Brawley locals reacted with indignation after a corpse was stored among gas and butter at a local establishment. The incident led to the stock being destroyed, with the value placed around $500, and the premises thoroughly fumigated.

Arizona Corporation Commission will hold a hearing on September 4 in the state capitol Ita office to fix railroad freight rates on all classes of fruits and vegetables. The commission will seek information on transportation within Arizona and believes lower rates could boost statewide production for local consumption and external markets.
Ex mayor Siedell of Milwaukee may visit Globe in October to campaign as advised by Globe. Arrangements to bring Eugene V. Debscows to Globe have fallen through, but Arizona officials now plan for Siedell’s presence in Globe during October.
