Local PTA Meeting Reports Dec 3 Open House Plans
The P T A held a large meeting at the Legion Hall on Monday October 20 with Rev. Hayenga giving the invocation. Open house at the school is planned for Wednesday December 3 from 7 30 to 9 00 p m with lunch served. The 2nd and 3rd grades presented A Lesson on Citizenship. A Film Travelogue by Miss Janice Hale covered travel topics. Community olive branch events include church bazaars and visits among families. various local residents were noted in attendance and hosting duties. Slow Down and Live.

Doan Methodist Church Hosts God's Acre Day Event
Doan Vicinity News reports God's Acre Day at Doan Methodist Church on Wednesday November 5 with Rev Max Goldman Titonia as pastor. Committee heads include Robert Boleneus Dale Struthers and Harvey Johnson. Corn will be shelled at Dale Struthers farm by 9 30 a m. A potluck dinner at noon at the Doan Annex follows. An auction of bazaar items produce baked goods and corn sale will close the event. Everyone is welcome.

The Brownies met on October 22 with flag introductions by Becky Truesdell Cheryl Walrod Barbara Zwiefel Ann Sexton Kathy Rood Judy Akkerman and Linda Higgins who brought treats. Ann Sexton was announced as the new 19th member and money from a cookie project was collected to fund club activities including hikes and cookouts. Blanche Smith of Dyersville is retiring after 55 years with the Dyersville Commercial, a paper in the Smith family for 72 years.
