Canada Geese Dominate Early Fall Flown in Two Flyways

Surveys across national wildlife refuges show Canada geese making up about 70 percent of the early fall flock in both the Mississippi and Central Flyways. Snow and blue geese follow, with some white fronted geese present as well. Factors include early nesting success in Canada, late September cold snaps accelerating migration, hunting pressure, and drought shaping refuge attractants. An unrelated note reports a chimney collapse tied to a Mamreland Lutheran parsonage teardown in Stanton.
