Betty Kokesh and Esther Fritz celebrated their eleventh birthday with candy in class while Audrey Brandt missed days due to her grandfather's death. Students planned stamp books, aimed for a hundred stamps, learned about fish hatcheries, drew fish pictures, colored world maps, traced Uncle Ben's world trip, and reported in My Weekly Reader by Charles Reed and Clarence Brandt.
Arthur Rode was absent part of last week. Sympathy extends to him. Patricia Ball had a birthday party on October 2 and Robert Schutter on the 9th. We thank them for their kindness. In Citizenship we finished drawing the Kossuth county map and learned township names. This is fire prevention week with lesson fires on prevention. In Geography we finished the winds map and will draw the map of South America this week. In Art we will have our first Picture lesson. Stanley Fisher visited our grade Monday forenoon.
Sympathy extended for Forrest Rode and Olive Brandt as their grandfather died. Ruth Welhousen was absent due to mess. Russell French traveled to South Dakota with parents. Junior High boys lost 15 to 14 to Burt Junior High. Fire Prevention Week observed with drills. Spelling contest planned for seventh grade to miss fewer words. Art class produced tree posters. Miss Tutton reads Uncle Tom's Cabin to explore the slavery issue. Leona Celsking ill last Friday. Juanita Anderson leaving district. classmates wish her well.
