On Sept 28 Detective Frank Brothers shot 12 year old Howard Wittell as the boy allegedly tried to flee after being accused of stealing. Eyewitnesses say the shooting was deliberate. In Carrott Michigan William A Harrington protected his 10 year old invalid daughter from a yard attack by Charles Martin a laborer who boarded at Harringtons home. Harrington struck with a baseball bat seriously wounding Martin who died two hours later at a local hospital.
United States Judge Amidon appoints A H Lindeke as receiver for Johnson Sloan, a Minneapolis retail dry goods merchant, after application by Lindeke Warner & Sons, wholesale dry goods merchants, in St Paul proceedings dated Sept 20.
Thomas Young a 17 year old burglar from Chicago and William Mcllravey a 10 year old from New York were brought from New York to Greenwich Connecticut for trial facing charges after an attempted escape from custody failed.
