Turkey Raisers to Form District Growers’ Association
Turkey raisers from Hemmet Winnebago Wright Palo Alto Hancock Pocahontas and Sac counties plan to organize a district turkey growers association. Meeting October 3 at 1 30 p m at the Legion hall Algona with temporary chairman Chester Schoby. Speakers include Leo Brown president of the Iowa Turkey Growers Association and W R Whitfield and W M Vernon from the Iowa State Extension Service at Ames.

North Dakotan Charged With Reckless Driving
Lakota resident Jose Foster was injured in a two vehicle crash four miles east of Lakota on Highway 9. He is hospitalized in Kossuth County and faces a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Foster was taken to Forest City hospital and released.

Car Backfires Burn Straw Piles Near Wesley
Christian Peters four miles north of Wesley lost a Model A and a straw pile in a fire that started when a backfired Model A sent sparks to nearby straw. A truck was stuck by the straw pile. Peters hooked the car to the truck to free it. The straw and the Model A were destroyed, but quick help from Wesley fire Department saved nearby buildings.

Big crowd enjoys sixth annual Kossuth field day
Perfect autumn weather brought an estimated crowd of more than 20,000 to the Kossuth County Conservation League’s sixth annual field day at Kossuth field. Gov. George A. Wilson officiated the noon flag-raising as Emil B. Liera drew crowds with trained otters from Homer, Minnesota. The event featured trap shooting, a large dog show, and multiple contests with standings led by Arnold Kucher and other regional competitors across 160 leased acres.
