War Department Seeks Surplus Clothing for Relief Aid
War Department officials said most of the Army and Navy surplus clothing and other quartermaster gear, valued at about 60 million dollars at original cost, will be released to the War Assets Administration to aid relief efforts and provide incentives for surplus production overseas, especially in the Ruhr mines. Withdrawals have begun and more approvals are sought to move all available items such as winter coats underwear and navy knit caps to occupied countries.
