Highway street work near completion in local area
The Highway Commission finished final hard surfacing two weeks ago and graded the shoulders at the north end last week. Dirt piles at Harm Uken and W J Denton corners were moved to shoulders and graveled. Asphalt resurfacing has occurred on Highway 18 between Clear Lake and Mason City and on No 65 south of Mason City.

Highway Improvement Families Host Skating and Dance Party
The Highway Improvement crew and their families sponsored a dance last Friday with many friends invited. Earlier in the week a skating party was held. These workers, here since summer, will be missed when their project ends and they leave for home. They are a fine group who have made many friends during their stay.

Ricklefs Win Vacation Trip Top Salesman
Mr and Mrs W H Ricklefs returned from a week at the Broadmoor Hotel Colorado Springs as guests of Woodmen Accident Co Lincoln Neb at the President's Production Club convention. The all expense trip honored Ricklefs for selling Life Accident and Health insurance and he is a charter member of the Presidents Club. They were joined by their son and daughter-in-law Raymond Ricklefs of Haberville, also a charter member.

Band Mothers Card Party Draws Good Attendance
The Band Mothers card party Friday evening drew a solid crowd despite bad weather and competing events. About 60 dollars was netted. Committees led by Mrs. R L Krantz and others earned praise for supporting the school band and director Mr. Castor. Bridges and 500 were played with high scores by Mrs Harold Miller Edonard Ferguson and by Mrs John Stott Frank Clark. Glen Miller won travel prizes.

Death of Ike Harms of Lakota Area
