Thrilling tale of Haig retreat from Pleardy battle
First Lieutenant Roswell Pettit MRO of Ottawa recounts a dramatic retreat by ten German divisions against one British line during the St Quentin crisis. He describes shelled advances, rear guard actions, tanks, air patrols, and personal near misses as he helped establish aid posts and aided wounded amid heavy bombardment and shifting positions. Pettit notes his unit survived with minimal losses and that he will soon report for duty with the AEB.
