Analysis of Soil Not Predictive for Crop Growth Says Pickett

B I Pickett head of the Horticultural Department at Town State College argues chemists cannot predict soil responses. He says soil varies daily, plant health indicates needed treatment, and laboratory methods are inadequate as guides. Pale foliage suggests nitrogen deficiency, wilting signals water need, and overrich soil or low light can cause soft shoots. Also notes little honey remaining for 1941 marketing year, aiding Iowa producers.
