Heat and Cold Effective in Moth Control
Heat and cold are two effective methods of controlling clothes moths cheaply. Exposing clothing or infested articles to heat in summer or using zero temperature in winter will free them of moths. Dry cleaning or spraying a closet with household fly spray are control aids, says Harold Gunderson of Iowa State College extension entomologist. Naphthalene flakes or paradichlorobenzene crystals should be placed in tight containers with summer-stored clothing.

It matures two to three weeks later than Cobler, posing adaptation challenges but offering potential to reduce hopper sprayings. Iowa tests compared Sequoya with Irish Cobbler and Early Ohio, with Sequoya staying green while others burned. Further crosses with earlier varieties planned to combine immunity and earlier maturity.
