New Oat Varieties Must Not Be Cut Early
New oat varieties are not palatable to livestock when cut too soon. Harvest with a binder and shock only after stems turn yellow and heads mature for several days. Direct combining requires even later maturity, and new varieties should not contain more than 14 percent moisture before threshing or combining.

Recap Tires in Time or You May Have No Tires
Widespread neglect of tire recapping by passenger car owners contributes to tire rationing problems faced by local War Price and Rationing Boards. RB card holders may apply for new tires May 1 but only after preferred mileage demand is met, per Des Moines OPA. With 12,000 backlogged applications, recapping remains the advised solution as new tires are scarce and recap work is near standstill.
