Sudan Grass Seeding Named Best Step for Pasture Yield
July is the final month for Sudan grass seeding says County Extension Director A L Brown and agronomist Maurice L Peterson of Iowa State College. If grown six weeks to about 18 inches before grazing, it yields best and avoids prussic acid poisoning. Sudan grass serves as a hot season pasture trap when bluegrass is dormant and only two or three cows can graze per acre. If used for hay, cut soon after blooming.
