Expect Steady Prices Of Dairy Cattle Feed
Dairy farmers can expect feed prices to stay steady for several months, says Iowa State College economist Francis Kutish. Prices have risen since 1938-40 but are held by price ceilings and ample supplies. Milk producers have benefited from dairy production payments, while government policy and subsidies will shape future relations. Iowa dairymen have an advantage with abundant home-grown concentrates and minimal processing in many Midwest farms.

Hay Seed Priority Shifts To Seed Harvest For 1945 46
Harvesting red clover seed to meet national needs becomes No 1 priority as demand soars. Allies require up to 40 million pounds of seed for pasture rehabilitation, while liberated countries seek self sufficiency. Prices may fall if late crops are transformed into seed. Congress authorizes 12.5 million dollars for seed payments, with 3.5 cents per pound for red clover and 2.5 for alsike and alfalfa, plus 3.50 dollars per acre for seed-harvested acres. Experts urge early cutting to boost yields and note beehives boost pollination.
