Referenda Back Continuation Of Farm Adjustment Programs

More than 86 percent of votes in referenda on corn hog cotton tobacco and wheat supported continuing agricultural adjustment programs. Across four states or programs a total of 2,918,678 ballots were cast with 2,511,109 in favor and 407,983 opposed.

Referenda Vote Split On Agricultural Acts And Acreage

The poll covered corn hog, cotton, tobacco, and wheat referenda with totals for votes cast and continuance. Cotton showed over 89 percent in favor, tobacco over 97 percent, and wheat over 66 percent, while corn hog favored continuance by about 70 percent. Kerr-Smith Tobacco Act support relied on acreage with over 92 percent in favor of continuance.
