George Swyter Weds Tena Spear in Jackson Minnesota

The marriage of Gen. George Swyter and Mrs. Tena Spear was held February 7, 1935 at the Jackson County Courthouse with the Probate Judge officiating. After the ceremony the couple returned to the bride’s home in German township and are now at home. The Topic offers best wishes. Cream stations in Picona and surrounding area have closed. Wm Banda starts a two year term as star route mail carrier from Britt to Titonka. He began Monday and will run two trips daily except Sunday. He purchased a new mail wagon for transfer duties.

Arnold Brandt, son of Mr and Mrs Martin Brandt, lost the second finger of his left hand after it was caught in a feed grinder last Friday. The accident amputated the finger midway between the first and second joints.

Heffner to Erect New Residence in North Town

L C Heffner plans a two story home with a full basement on his town lot. Construction will start within a week or two with excavation beginning next week. Some building materials are already on site.

Mr and Mrs John Phelps of Crosby North Dakota arrived Tuesday to visit his brother Mr and Mrs Ghas Phelps and family and other relatives in the community and to attend a family reunion of the Phelps clan today. Mr Phelps is county superintendent of schools and well known in education before moving from Iowa years ago.

Visitors From New Mexico Visit Larsen Family

Mr and Mrs Drayton Wasson of Reserve New Mexico arrived by car Monday for a two week visit with her parents Mr and Mrs Wm Larsen. They left Reserve Tuesday and reached the Larsons the following Monday after a few en route stops. Mrs Wasson formerly Miss Vilna Larsen was an Iowa teacher. The couple teach in public schools in New Mexico.

Fishermen Return From Big Winnie Lake Trip

Frank Mulligan and W. J. Denton returned Friday from Big Winnie Lake in northern Minnesota after a few days of fishing. They were guests of guide WH. Slack. Denton said the camp was fine and there was plenty to eat but winds kept the fishing poor.

Doan Church anniversary homecoming drew a large crowd for a day of programs and worship. Rev A A Howe, who helped found the church, delivered the sermon. Iowa Brand Creamery meeting draws over three thousand

The Iowa State Brand Creamery meeting at Mason City drew more than three thousand dairy interests. Attendees included G D Welhousen and family, Fred DeVries, Bruno Stecker, Henry Stecker, and Martin E E Bleich of Titania Co operative Creamery. In the 1935 Workmanship Contest Bleich finished fourth with 97.4, his fourth straight year placing. The prize was a Schäfer desk set. DeVries also won a prize in a scoring cream contest.

Titonka Town Resolves Federal Grant for Waterworks

The Titonka Iowa Town Council authorized Mayor Lee O Wolfe to file a federal grant application through the Public Works Administration to finance a waterworks system. Wardholders Callies Bonacker Missal Sartor and others approved the measure with no nay votes. The Currie Hagvik Company, Wm Boyken, and J L Bonar were named to provide required engineering, financial, and legal information.

Luther League Play A Success At Immanuel’s Church

Last Sunday evening the Luther League of Immanuels Lutheran church presented the final four acts of The Confirmation Class of 1870 to a large audience. The production showcased moral lessons and Christian virtues with a cast including Mary Schumaker Alice Harringa Mrs Mills Mrs Alica Limberg Frank Holland William J Rode Grace Desmond Evelyn Brandt Clara Smith John Teller Andrew Hanford Leroy Brandt Harold Kee Mealy Buss Irene Schmidt Jessie Wiedman Helen Senne George Blenan Dick Mayland Julia Alber Trane Schmidt Bertha Wenk Clara Giesking Amy grand daughter of Edith Mills Miss Richards nurse Irene Schmidt. The play traced a class origins in six acts observing anniversaries up to the 60th, with only Mrs Milla Perry surviving to attend the final observance.
