Radium mystery ends as university helps locate most of missing 5000 dollar stash
A Davenport hospital radium theft allegedly totaling 5000 dollars was investigated with university help. Claude Lapp and Louis Waldbauer used a sensitive electroscope to detect about 80 percent of the radium in ash piles at St. Luke's hospital. They traced the material to the incinerator and narrowed the search to a bushel of ash, locating most of the radium before remaining fragments were deemed irrecoverable. The rest will be ground and recovered by an eastern company in coming days.
